Trench art brass RRCA ashtray

A trench art ashtray from the Second World War that bears the emblem of the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery. In their spare time at the front, talented soldiers created trench art from remnants of war such as discarded bullets and shell casings. This “art” was not part of the official military art program. Its production was a popular hobby and many specimens survived the war

The lower part bears the mark of Mitchell, a Canadian ammunition supplier.
