Pair of engravings by Thomas Webster
Pair of engravings made from oils painted in 1842 by Thomas Webster RA (1800-1886). The first is called “The smile” and the second “The frown”. Framed works alone measure 10 x 20 inches. Some breakage around the edges. (see photos)
Webster, British painter specializing in genre scenes of school and village life. Many of his works became popular thanks to the printing of more affordable prints. He lived for many years in the artists’ colony of Cranbro.
