A very fine music box produced by Polyphon Musikwerke, Leipzig, Germany circa 1895. Still displaying its original varnish and applied decorations on the lid, this device is still functional and comes with a disc that contains a lovely Christmas melody. The metal disc produced by Polyphon has notches that activate both the fine notes of a metal “comb” and a series of bells, thus creating a polyphony, that is, an assembly of notes that, played together, create a complex and harmonious melody.
